Here are some of the new features we will be releasing in the next few months.
Love your service. Couldnt have been a better example of the KISS principle. What is “Folder watching” ? Is it where I can say watch c:\photos and if new files/directories are added under c:/photos they will be zumodriven…Please claify |
Sanjay, Folder Watching is exactly as you described. You can simply pick a folder on your machine and it will automatically be watched for changes. Any files/folders in the watched folder will be added to ZumoDrive and will be accessible from any other machine. Let me know if there is anything I can do to clarify further. |
So does ZumoDrive use any syncing functions? For example, if I upload a folder of documents and I am currently working on them, does Zumo automagically update them in the cloud? If not now, will this be a function of the Folder Watching service? That seems logical to me. I know ZumoDrive is not for syncing everything to all devices, but I would imagine it’s beneficial to have it keep the file in the cloud as the most up-to-date. Can you expand on this? |
ZumoDrive does do automatic synchronization for you, yes. As you update your files everything will be pushed to the cloud, and the latest version will then be available if you access it on another device. |
Okay, I understand now. So for my desires, it’s not fully in place yet. I have to access the files from Zumo and edit them on the ‘Z: drive’ to have them synced back to the cloud, but when Folder Watching comes online, I can set my local folder (Say /User/Documents\) to be watched, edit them locally, and Zumo will sync said files to the cloud. I gotcha. Unless I’m wrong, then I don’t. |
That’s exactly right. Our folder watching service should be in place shortly, so keep an eye out. |
What about Symbian, Windows Mobile and other Mobile platforms? |
We are currently evaluating how we wish to move forward in the mobile market. Stay tuned and we should have updates on that in the near future. |
Any timeline on the Folder Watching ability? I’m still trying ZumoDrive out (as well as the iPhone app) but man, you’d have me sold with Folder Watching. I can’t find anywhere else that does that. DropBox does, but I don’t want to be forced to have everything I want in the cloud also on my drive. I want some files in the cloud and those in the watched folder to be there as well. |
I can’t give any sort of official timeline for the Folder Watching, but be assured it’s at the top of our development list right now and we are actively working on it. It’s not a simple task, so it will require plenty of development and testing. I’d say to expect it within the next month or so, but don’t hold me to that :) |
I’d really like to see a symbian version |

Looking forward to the folder watching feaure. I think this will really seperate Zumo from the crowd of other services |
So this is how I THINK folder watching will work: |
Is there an update with this? I’d really like to have folder watching. |
Bump :) |

Folder Watching Blues
============== |
I dont mean to laugh at your blues because I have them as well. But that was funny |
Yes hugely frustrating … I have held off changing suppliers based on this … but not sure how much longer before I get fed up of these false promises. |
its been 8 months.. whats ‘soon’ for an android app? |
Guys, sorry if there’s any misunderstanding there. We didn’t mean to mislead here. But as a small company, we have to focus on making our existing set of features working robust and solid for you guys before releasing new capabilities. All of the things listed are still on our roadmap. While I can’t give a firm date as to when it’ll be released, according to our current timeline, it’ll be within the next two months. |
